The College was established in the year 2003 and it started with the Department of Islamic Studies and Arabic language. As this Language “Arabic” is the vessel carrying the texts to understand true meaning of Islam. It is the language of the Glorious Qur’an and the Sunnah, and the books of the ancient heritage of Islamic culture over the generations, and still written in it, it’ enjoys  luster and beauty, and it is  spoken by the large segment around the world.

The College started a Diploma Programme in Arabic Language and Islamic studies in the year 2005, under the supervision of the Faculty Arts and Islamic Studies (FAIS), Bayero University Kano. The University is recognized among the most prestigious universities in West Africa, particularly with regards to Islamic studies and Arabic language.

With the passage of time, Imam Malik College (IMC) gained status of a leading academic Institute.  This was achieved by the availability of potential academic qualities, which were the targeted goals of the founders to establish an academic programmes of higher Standard, and still looking for further development.

However, the desire of this College to provide quality academic personnel who would contribute their quota to the development of this great Nation, made it obligation upon us to seek affiliation with the greatest institution of learning; University of Ilorin in the year 2013/2014 academic session.

Presently, the college is running a Diploma programme affiliated to the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Likewise, the processing to start the degree program under the supervision of this great university is in the pipe line.

The College’s status:

Imam Malik College is an institution of higher learning, founded to take care of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies in the West African countries. The College is registered with official agents of the Nigerian Government; with Ministry of Education, science and technology of Oyo State; the state where the College is situated. And the College is also registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja.

College Mission:

To spread Islamic Education in order to expose the true message of Islam to the society and to liquidate of any defects.

Objectives of the College:

1. Eradication of Illiteracy.
2. To facilitate understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
3. Show the virtues of Islam.
4. Purification of impurities which marred the image of Islam.
5. Breeding of young people through academic programs, and occupancy of their time with would yield benefit.
6. Dissemination of Islamic and Arabic studies.
7. To deepen research in related fields.
8. Contribute to the rehabilitation of qualified personnel.
9. Promoting the movement of scientific research and writing, translation, and the preparation of distinguished researchers.
